Since 1st September, Benoit de Faucal has joined François Vivier to form the VivierBoats team. Benoit holds a degree in naval architecture from the University of Southampton (Solent University – Yacht and Powercraft Design). Aged 41, he already has considerable experience in naval architecture. He has also built several wooden-epoxy sailing boats based on his own designs and undertook a five-month placement at Skol ar Mor to familiarise himself with traditional shipbuilding techniques.

This therefore ensures the long-term future of a naval architecture practice that is overwhelmingly focused on wooden boats, encompassing both traditional construction methods and modern wooden-epoxy construction. Vivier’s plans are thus guaranteed to grow in diversity and quality and to remain available for many years to come to both amateur and professional boatbuilders. François, now 77 years old, intends to remain active in the years ahead and to pass on his knowledge and expertise.
