In 2015, I was approached by Louis Ducharme to fulfill a request from a client who wanted an electric-powered launch for boating on a Canadian lake. At the time, Louis owned a small boatyard—now closed—called Atelier Nautique Richelieu, located near Montreal, Quebec.

I proposed a boat based on the Ebihen 16 design, which was perfectly suited in terms of size and offered good stability for peaceful cruising on inland waters. Propulsion is provided by a Torqeedo electric motor installed in a motor well. The interior layout was completely redesigned in the style of a “launch” to comfortably accommodate five people. The hull is clinker-built from plywood, and I provided the boatyard with a set of files for the CNC cutting of all the plywood parts.

I am entirely open to continuing this project, either with an identical design or with modifications to the interior layout and the propulsion system—whether electric or internal combustion.

Built in 2014 by Atelier Nautique Richelieu,
Length: 4.80 m,
Breadth: 1.85 m,
Light weight without motor: 230 kg,
Torqeedo Travel electric motor
Maximum crew: 5.
