I have often been called upon to draw sail plans as part of restoration projects, but also for many other boats, both large and small. The sail plan is essential to the boat’s performance, its seaworthiness, its beauty and its authenticity. It must take into account many functional aspects that are often overlooked today. A traditional rig can be highly efficient and manoeuvrable, but only if one knows how to draw on the experience of our forebears. The sampling of masts, spars and rigging is also part of this work.
