In its April 2026 issue, *Voiles et Voiliers* magazine published a 23-page feature on amateur boatbuilding. Is it still relevant today? What materials should be used? What kind of boat? Where should one build? How long should one allow for the project? What prior training is required? What budget is needed? Should one work alone or as part of a team? What regulations apply? What are the chances of success? Gaëlle Lebourg spoke to several designers and builders to answer these questions.
