The first and still unique Creizic is “not for sale anymore”. This new design has been drawn for a design competition organized in 2011 by the French magazine “Chasse-Marée” and the “Wooden village” of the La Rochelle boat show. The dinghy has been built by Icarai in Cherbourg. My intent was to design a sail-and-oar boat being lighter than previous designs and very easy to build. Hull lines, with a flat bottom, gives a good stability to compensate the light weight. The stem profile makes launching and recovering easier. A side deck allows the crew to make an efficient sit out and improve safety. The narrow side decks and low coamings do not prevent to use the oars. The oars, as well as the sail with boom and yard, are stowed under the side decks. There is a buoyancy compartment at both ends.
Creizic is built with 6 mm marine plywood (9 mm for the sole) using the stitch and tape method, leading to a boat which is light, strong and almost maintenance free. The battened lug sail is very efficient. For those willing to build a Creizic, the plan will be available this year. Please get in touch with the designer if you are interested.
